April 8th, 2008 · No Comments

The UK’s ultimate home AV gear for 2008 was revealed at a ceremony in central London last Friday, as the annual Home Cinema Choice Awards were announced. Presented by former Dr Who Sylvester McCoy, the 19 categories were judged and awarded by leading reviewers from UK AV magazine Home Cinema Choice.
Amongst the winners, BT took one step closer to challenging Sky’s dominance with a ‘Best Digital Recorder’ award for its BT Vision on-demand TV over broadband service.
Panasonic’s DMP-BD30 was voted ‘Best Blu-ray player’. The deck was also applauded for adopting the latest Blu-ray standard Profile 1.1, making it the first dedicated player to show-off the interactive features found on new BD discs.
Samsung took the prestigious Design Excellence Award for its latest range of Crystal Design TVs. The new LCD TV line was applauded for making such a ‘bold statement’.
The full awards rundown appears in the May issue of Home Cinema Choice, on sale April 10, priced 3.99 pounds.
