Samsung Chairman could resign over financial scandal

April 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Is the most powerful man in Samsung set to resign following the scandal that has rocked the Asian conglomerate? That’s the question haunting South Korea, as the comments made by Chairman Lee Kun-hee after he endured a second round of interviews concerning allegations of bribery and financial irregularity, are digested. Lee apparently told reporters: “I will deeply think about reshuffling the corporate management structure and the management lineup, including myself.”
The Government probe was started after former accountant Kim Yong-chul alleged that Korea’s biggest tech giant had a slush fund set aside for bribing judges and other senior officials. Samsung has always denied the claims. The government’s investigation is scheduled to close on April 23, after which it will announce its findings.
