LG Scarlett LCD
Flatscreens and mobile phones have helped South Korea’s LG Electronics to turn last year’s financial loss into a first quarter net profit. The company has declared earnings of 422 billion won for Q1, with sales up 14.8 percent. LG’s Digital Display Company in particular is shining. Sales jumped 32.1 per cent to 3.637 trillion won, with its LCD TV operation up 82 per cent, Plasma up 18 per cent and monitors up 33 per cent YOY.
LG currently has the hottest-selling LCD TV range in Korea, having sold 2 million Xcanvas Scarlett TVs in just two months. The Scarlett sets have a distinctive red highlight and so-called ‘invisible’ speakers designed by US audio engineer Mark Levinson. Expect these models to debut in the UK later this year.
