Sony’s twice delayed virtual community for PS3 owners, Home, has finally taken some lodgers. Sony opened Home’s doors to 10,000 Japanese beta testers yesterday. Similar invitations will be extended to European and American gamers soon. It’s still unclear exactly what the point of Home is, as Sony seems to be distancing itself from comparisons with Second Life. However you begin your life in a metaverse with a few rags and a simple dwelling, which sounds kinda similar to us. At least when you get bored of your box room, you can wander off to the Namco Musuem and play Pac-Man and other retro games.
