Paul Dini, the creative force behind arguably the best interpretation of The Batman in the form of the Batman: The Animated series (pictured), is to develop a video game for Eidos and Rocksteady Studios which pits the character against his biggest foes, within the catacombs of Arkham Asylum.
The plot of Batman: Arkham Asylum involves the Joker master-minding a break-out during a prison transfer. Most of the Batman’s adversaries are expected to make an appearance during the game. Although unconfirmed as yet, it’s thought likely that the studio will be using the Unreal Engine 3 for the title.
Unlike Dini’s work on the Batman and Batman Beyond animated TV shows, this game will feature a gritty, dark spin on the character. Batman: The Animated series won multiple awards during its run, including an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program in 1993.
