China will switch over from analogue to digital TV by 2015. That’s the pronouncement of the State Administration of Radio, Film and TV. The country currently offers both digital and analogue programming. Digital TV reaches around 40 million homes in major conurbations such as Beijing and Shanghai, in which there’s a choice of 80 channels. SARFT says that digital cable services will be rolled out to the majority of towns and cities over the next six years.
