About Steve May

Steve has been writing about technology and pop culture for over 30 years. He spent a decade as a music journalist, writing under the name Steve Keaton, for weekly British rock newspaper Sounds as well as indie mags like Zig Zag, famously first coining the phrase ‘goth‘ as a punk sub-genre during an article on the band UK Decay, before joining WV Publications (which was eventually acquired by Highbury and then cherry-picked by Future Publishing).
During that period, he has created and/or launched 19 magazines in the UK, covering everything from high technology to Beanie Babies.
He is probably best known as the creator of home theatre magazine Home Cinema Choice, but delights in telling people that he was also responsible for bringing World Of Wrestling (WOW) to UK wrestling fans.
